Terms & Conditions

The Lakeside Wedding Venue · Tierpoort

By attending our wedding you agree to the following venue rules and conditions. Please read carefully — your presence means your acceptance.

These terms and conditions are set by The Lakeside Wedding Venue and apply to all guests attending the wedding of Coert & Nelrie on 11 November 2026. As their guests, you are subject to the venue's rules and policies. Coert & Nelrie, as the hosting couple, remain responsible for ensuring these are upheld — and any costs, damages or fines incurred by guests will be the responsibility of the guest in question.

R10 000 Refundable Breakage Deposit

A breakage deposit of R10 000 has been paid by the Bride & Groom to The Lakeside. This deposit is fully refundable — provided there are no damages, breakages or losses caused by guests or their conduct during the event. Any damage will be deducted from this deposit. Should damages exceed R10 000, the responsible guest(s) will be invoiced for the difference.

01 Guest Conduct & Responsibility
  • The Bride & Groom are responsible for the conduct of all their guests. Please behave respectfully towards the venue, its staff, and all other guests at all times.

  • The premises of The Lakeside are entered entirely at your own risk. The venue, its staff and management shall not be held liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from negligence or any other cause.

  • Please ensure all valuables are safely stored. The Lakeside accepts no responsibility for the loss of or damage to personal belongings.

  • A complete guest list (names and surnames) will be provided to the venue one month prior to the event. No guests will be permitted onto the property if their name does not appear on this list.

02 Breakages & Damages
  • The R10 000 breakage deposit covers damage to: moveable and immovable property, gardens, furniture, linen, décor, glasses, crockery, cutlery, walls, floors, doors, windows, taps, hinges, basins and any missing or damaged items — including accessories in guest rooms.

  • Any item damaged or lost will be replaced at 3× the cost price, as per industry standard. This amount will be deducted from the breakage deposit, and if damages exceed R10 000, the responsible guest will be billed for the balance.

  • No paper confetti or streamers are permitted. Only biodegradable alternatives such as fynbos petals or bubbles are allowed. Please communicate this to your fellow guests.

03 Bar & Alcohol Policy
  • No drinks or alcohol may be brought onto the property. Should a guest be found drinking external alcohol — from a car boot, bag or otherwise — Fine: R2 000 will be deducted from the breakage deposit. A second offence will result in the function being stopped immediately.

  • Guest bar tabs may be opened with car keys or a valid driver's licence and are payable at the end of the evening.

  • No glasses or glass bottles are permitted outside the venue (including the parking area), as wild animals roam freely on the property.

04 Venue Areas & Restrictions
  • Guests and their party may not enter the kitchen, behind the bar, storerooms or décor rooms. Fine: R1 000 per occurrence. Please ask a staff member for assistance if needed.

  • Furniture may not be moved under any circumstances. This applies to guests and all service providers. Please communicate this rule accordingly.

  • Swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited at all times. The Lakeside clearly states there are no railings along the water's edge.

  • Smoking is not permitted inside the venue, reception hall, glass house or any other enclosed areas, in accordance with the Tobacco Act and the Laws of South Africa. Failure to comply may result in a fine at the discretion of The Lakeside.

05 Music & Timing
  • The venue hire concludes at midnight (00:00). The Lakeside reserves the right to control music volume throughout the function. At 22:00, all music must comply with local decibel laws.

  • The DJ must be SAMPRA registered. No additional speakers, base bins or bands with drums or percussion instruments are permitted in the reception area or after 18:00.

  • Should the ceremony start more than one hour late, a delay fee of R1 000 per hour will apply. Please be on time — it's a special day for everyone.

06 Accommodation Guests
  • Check-in is between 13:00 and 17:00. Check-out is strictly 09:00. Late checkout: R1 000 / room / hour

  • Room payment is managed by the Bride & Groom directly. Accommodation is booked through Coert & Nelrie and paid directly to them. The Lakeside receives one consolidated payment from the couple.

  • All personal items must be removed from the Beauty Room before the reception start time. Please ensure valuables are locked away — The Lakeside takes no responsibility for losses.

  • Any missing or damaged items in guest rooms will be considered part of the breakage deposit liability and billed accordingly.

07 Limitation of Liability
  • The Lakeside will not be held liable for any loss, damage to personal belongings, personal injury, illness or death to guests attending the function.

  • The Lakeside will not be held liable for inability to provide services as a result of weather, fire, power or water interruptions or any sudden unforeseeable event beyond their control.

  • By attending this event, all guests acknowledge and waive any claims or demands against The Lakeside for any loss, damage or injury as outlined above, on behalf of themselves and any persons they bring.

By submitting your RSVP and attending the wedding of Coert & Nelrie, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and conditions, and agree to abide by the rules of The Lakeside Wedding Venue. You accept personal responsibility for any costs, fines or damages arising from your conduct or that of any person in your care during the event.
